About The Process

Design Your Knife

Every knife should be a reflection of the owner and the maker. Once contacted about a custom order I'll get the specifics from you; size, intended uses, desired handle material, custom design (etching purposes)  etc... from that outline I put together a design and use that to build your knife.

Start Building Your Knife

After the basic design is approved, I start the build, depending on use and desired outcome I either the forge or use stock removal to get the desired profile.

Shaping the Blade

After the rough profile is achieved, I hop over to the grinder and start grinding off material to get it to its final shape and get the bevels established.

Handle Attachment

Now that we have a blade I go about attaching a handle, this process varies depending on the style of blade but whatever process is used great care is used to ensure accurate and correct fit up.

Finishing the Blade

Once the metal is close to final dimensions it is heat treated to go from a soft piece of metal to a hardened and tempered blade. From this point I finish grind the blade and perform testing to insure the heat treat was done correctly.

Finish It Up

My favorite part of every build is that final little bit that makes each knife unique, hammmered pins, filework etc... making each build as individual as the customer.
